The Gran Idea of our Gran Canaria vacation was more of a sudden turn of events than an initial plan.

You know how one has to be very good in politics in order to have bright future and prosperous day job? Well, same goes for relationships. If you want them to work, you should let you so-called-better-half know what does the expression “perfect gift” stand for. In my case, that always means another trip. And He knows it.
Here is how I got my ticket to the Canary Islands. I was staying in London with my cousin for few days, when my boyfriend called with the super-hot proposition to exchange 4 tickets instead of the regular 2: from Sofia to Milan, from Milan to Gran Canaria.

Milano

I have already been to Milan a couple of times and therefore was not at all interested in seeing the good old Duomo again. My boyfriend is a neat guy and therefore was not at all interested in making plans for our city tour, so here is why I took over and cued the first spot on our journey: Marchesi 1824.

Merchesi is one of the oldest pastry shops in Milan. Apart from the variety of flavours when it comes to patisserie, it is quite famous for its location: right above the Prada store in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. We gasped over some raspberry fruit tartes and art made of latte – the perfect prelude. Not the one in E-Minor that Chopin had in mind, but the one leading us to the next flight.

Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is the second most populous island from all the Canary wonders, with Tenerife holding the gold medal. It has white sand beaches as well as beaches with black lava sand, few gay bars, couple of highways and a lot of small bays. We rented a car and managed to crisscross the whole map. The only thing missing for me was decent cold coffee, but I somehow managed to find the right balance with white sangria for brunch.
